Mosquitoes Found in Iceland

Mosquitoes have been discovered in Iceland for the first time in recorded history.
Three specimens of the cold-tolerant Culiseta annulata were found in Kjos Valley near Hvalfjordur.
Scientists link the discovery to climate change and the northward spread of cold-adapted insect species.
With this discovery, Antarctica remains the only mosquito-free continent on Earth.
