- Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has been selected for the prestigious National Agriculture Leadership Award-2017 by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) under the chairmanship of well known agriculture scientist Prof MS Swaminathan. Rao.
- The Chief Minister has been selected for the award for his innovative services rendered to the welfare of farmers and the farm sector.
- The award will be presented on September 5, 2017 at Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi.
- The award, instituted by Indian Council of Food and Agriculture in 2008, is presented every year since then.
- The award was given annually to recognize efforts made in agriculture and farm economy.
- The past recipients of the award instituted in 2008 include Prof. M.S. Swaminathan (2008), Dr. Balram Jakhar (2009), Sharad Pawar (2010), Prof. P.K. Dhumal (2011), Dr. Raman Singh (2012), Prakash Singh Badal (2013), Akhilesh Yadav (2014), Shivraj Singh Chauhan (2015) and Ratan Tata (2016).
