- The scientist Kannan C S Warrier from Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding (IFGTB) of Coimbatore has received this award.
- The award was conferred on him by the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE).
- It was for releasing the three productive clones of casuarina, known as kattadi and savukku for the first time in the country.
- These are suitable for salt affected soils.
