Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the Sapta Dhara (Shakti Ki Sapta dhara) framework during his Independence Day address on 15 August 2026.
It aims to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, covering seven major areas of national development.
The seven areas are manufacturing; agriculture and food processing; technology and innovation; Gati Shakti; defence self-reliance; green and blue economy; and India’s soft power.
Under technology and innovation, the government plans to train 1 crore youth in Artificial Intelligence (AI) over the next year.
India has set a target of 100 GW nuclear energy capacity by 2047, with five new nuclear reactors expected to become operational in the next 6–7 years.
