New Chairman of Film Audit Board: Prasoon Joshi Appointment

• Central government sacked Bahalam Nihalani from the post of Central Film Audit Board (CBFC). He was replaced by the national award winning Bollywood songwriter Prasoon Joshi.
• Popular filmmaker Bahalaj Nihalani was appointed as the head of the Film Audit Board in January 2015.
• During the last two and half years of his career, there were various controversies raised. Other members of the audit board accused him of specifically acting in dictatorship. Recently, the Censor Board issued a major controversy for cutting scenes in different places in the film 'Hindu Sarkar' directed by famous director Madhur Bhandarkar.
• Furthermore, the Censor Board refused to allow 'Lipstick Under My Burqa' to be screened by various parties.
• In this scenario, the Central Board of Information and Broadcasting has removed Bahala Nihalani from the position of Chairman of Film Audit Board. Renowned Bollywood songwriter Prasoon Joshi has been appointed for the post.
