The Centre for Earth Sciences and Himalayan Studies (CESHS) has successfully drilled the Northeast region's first geothermal production well in Dirang.
It is located in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district.
Dirang is a medium-to-high enthalpy geothermal zone, with estimated reservoir temperatures of 115°C.
This makes it highly suitable for direct-use geothermal applications.
The Geothermal energy is used to heating and cooling buildings with heat pumps, generating electricity with power plants, and directly heating structures through direct-use applications.
