It enhances security along critical shipping lanes such as the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and Gulf of Aden.
The EUNAVFOR has the capability to respond to piracy incidents within 48 to 72 hours.
It has proposed a joint naval exercise with the Indian Navy to strengthen maritime security cooperation in the Western Indian Ocean and Red Sea.
