	- India has initiated preparations to host the 33rd United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP33) in 2028.
 
	- The COP33 Cell, formed under the Climate Change Division of the MoEFCC, will oversee the event.
 
	- The cell comprises 11 members, including a Joint Secretary (Climate Change), directors, and consultants.
 
	- During COP 28 in Dubai, Prime Minister had proposed India as the host country for COP 33.
 
	- If accepted by the UNFCCC, COP 33 would be the second UN climate conference to be hosted by India after COP 8 in New Delhi in 2002.
