Pensions for Freedom Fighters and Descendants

The Tamil Nadu government has increased the special pension for descendants of eminent freedom fighters.
The special pension has been increased by ₹500 from ₹10,500 to ₹11,000.
The revised pension amount is effective from August 15, 2025.
The beneficiaries include descendants of Marudhu Pandiar Brothers, Veerapandia Kattabomman, Mannar Muthuramalinga Vijaya Raghunatha Sethupathy, and V.O. Chidambaranar.
The descendants will continue to receive this pension for their lifetime.
The State pension for freedom fighters in Tamil Nadu has been increased by ₹1,000.
The revised State pension has been raised from ₹21,000 to ₹22,000 per month.
The family pension for dependants of freedom fighters has been increased by ₹500.
The new family pension amount is ₹12,000 per month, up from ₹11,500.
