- The Union Cabinet has extended the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM-GKAY) scheme for another six months, till September 2022.
- It aims to show care and compassion towards the underprivileged and vulnerable parts of society (Phase VI).
- The PM-GKAY scheme’s Phase-V was set to finish in March 2022.
- PM-GKAY has been in effect since April 2020, making it the world’s largest food security programme.
