- Veteran lyricist and poet Piraisoodan has passed away recently.
- He was aged 65.
- Piraisoodan made his debut as a lyricist with the 1985 film Sirai, directed by RC Sakthi.
- He was conferred the title Kavi Gnani by M.S.Viswanathan.
- He was also the secretary of the South Indian Writers Association.
- He had been chosen to be part of the panel to select the Indian film to be nominated for the Oscars recently.
