- Bhutan completed the 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project located in the Punatsangchhu river basin.
- The final unit was synchronized to the power grid, increasing Bhutan’s total power capacity by about 40% to over 3500 MW.
- India and Bhutan have jointly developed five major hydropower projects, including Punatsangchhu-II.
