October 24, 2026 marks the 65th Raising Day of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
ITBP was established on 24 October 1962, after the India-China War, to strengthen security along the Himalayan frontier.
Under the One Border One Force approach, ITBP was assigned the entire 3,488-km India-China border, from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh.
ITBP is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, specialising in high-altitude border security; its personnel are known as Himveers.
Its motto is “Shaurya, Dridhata, Karmanishtha”, meaning valour, steadfastness and dedication to duty.
