Renowned sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar passed away at the age of 100 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
He was the chief designer of the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, the world’s tallest statue.
His famous works include statues of Gandhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji at the Parliament complex.
He was awarded the Padma Shri (1999) and Padma Bhushan (2016).
He also received the Maharashtra Bhushan Puraskar, the highest civilian award of Maharashtra.
