Ramnath Kovind sworn in as 14th President of India

• Ramnath Kovind (71) became the 14th President of the country. The presidential election was held on 17th of October. In the midst of the election, the ruling National Democratic Alliance candidate ,Ramnath Kovind gained majority over the opposition candidate Meira Kumar. Kovind has won with 65% vote share.
• Ram Nath Kovind took oath as the 14th President of India in the Central Hall of Parliament on July 25th . Chief Justice JS Khehar administered the oath of office to Kovind. He has served as a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh for two consecutive terms from 1994 to 2006. Ramnath Kovind was the governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017, an d recently won the presidential election.
• RamnathKovind is the second Dalit President of the country after KR Narayanan. He is also the first BJP leader to be elected to the country’s highest post.
