SC on Vice-Chancellor Appointments

The Supreme Court stayed the Madras High Court interim order related to Vice-Chancellor appointments in Tamil Nadu State universities.
The High Court had earlier stayed an amended provision allowing the Tamil Nadu government to appoint Vice-Chancellors.
The Court said the State government must be given a reasonable opportunity to present its case.
The Supreme Court asked the Madras High Court to decide the matter within six weeks.
