SCO Cultural Capital - Lahore

  • Lahore, Pakistan, has been named the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Tourism and Cultural Capital for 2026–27 at the 26th SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in Bishkek.
  • The title has been rotated annually since 2022 to promote tourism, people-to-people contacts and the cultural heritage of SCO member states.
  • Previous title holders were Varanasi (India), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Qingdao (China) and Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan).
  • Pakistan holds the SCO presidency in 2026, with the theme “Turning Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation and Shared Prosperity.”
  • The SCO, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Beijing, has 10 member states and marks its 25th anniversary in 2026.
