Small Business Credit Market

Maharashtra topped the list with ₹6.0 lakh crore small business credit portfolio.
It is followed by Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, ₹3.69 lakh crore, Uttar Pradesh, ₹3.61 lakh crore, and Karnataka, ₹3.18 lakh crore.
Tamil Nadu had an outstanding small business credit portfolio of ₹4.21 lakh crore as of June 30, 2025, up 15.7% from ₹3.64 lakh crore in June 2024.
Tamil Nadu accounted for 9.3% of India’s total small business credit.
TN ranked second in borrower segments of Sole Proprietors and Sole Proprietors with Entity Presence, with shares of 11% and 8.8% respectively.
In the Enterprises borrower segment, Tamil Nadu held a 7.9% share while Gujarat stood second with 9.7%.
Chennai contributed 10.6% to Tamil Nadu’s small business credit portfolio, while the state’s PAR (Portfolio at Risk) 91–180 stood at 1.7% in June 2025.
It is a joint report by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and credit bureau CRIF High Mark.
