Smart Mosquito Surveillance System

July 11 , 2025 2 days 52 0
  • Andhra Pradesh has started a new project called the Smart Mosquito Surveillance System (SMoSS) to control mosquito problems during the rainy season.
  • The project will run in 66 locations across the six cities — Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Nellore, and Kurnool.
  • The system uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, and drones to check the mosquito types, numbers, and the weather conditions like temperature and humidity.
  • Drones will spray the mosquito-killing chemicals faster, using less time, fewer chemicals, and lower costs.
  • A live dashboard will show real-time data to a central system for fast and clear tracking.
