South Asia's largest Battery Energy Storage System
- A 20-MW battery energy storage system (BESS), the “largest” one in South Asia was inaugurated at Kilokari, New Delhi.
- The system is also India’s “the first commercially approved” utility-scale energy storage system.
- It uses an advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology known for superior safety, thermal stability and durability.
- In Lithium–iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, lithium metal phosphate is used as a cathode instead of lithium metal oxide.
