- The Supreme Court has approved the commercial production of ‘green’ crackers.
- The crackers have to comply with the new chemical composition approved by the CSIR and National Environmental Engineering Research Institute.
- To ensure compliance, cracker manufacturers have to set up a “testing unit” which will be supervised by Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organisation.
- The green crackers can reduce pollution by upto 30%.
