- Union Environment Minister handed over India’s first PRAMAAN certificates under the Indian Forest and Wood Certification Scheme (IFWCS).
- Certificates were given to Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation (APFDC) for 33,000 hectares of plantations and a bamboo farmer from Odisha.
- IFWCS was launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in December 2023.
- PRAMAAN certifies sustainable forest, wood and non-timber forest product management and supports compliance with global requirements.
- Forest management certification is based on the National Working Plan Code (NWPC) 2023 and involves independent field and management audits.
- The scheme aims to support sustainable forestry, global market access and livelihoods of farmers and forest-dependent communities.
