- The Tamil Nadu Government has decided to appoint two more State Information Commissioners in the Tamil Nadu Information Commission.
- With this, the Commission will have one State Chief Information Commissioner (SCIC) and eight State Information Commissioners (SICs).
- The Commission was formed in 2005 with one SCIC and two SICs, which was increased to six SICs in 2008.
- At present, there is one SCIC and five SICs in position.
- Under Section 15(2) of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, a State can have up to 10 State Information Commissioners.
