- Scientists have discovered a new species of porcelain crab named Pachycheles ravichandrani in the Lakshadweep Islands.
- Researchers from Agharkar Research Institute (ARI), Pune, discovered five new species of Allographa (lichen-forming fungi) in the Western Ghats: Allographa keralensis, A. nayakae, A. paraconsanguinea, A. persistinspersa, and A. semicarbonisata.
