Scientists discovered a new species of blind, blood-red eel named Rakthamichthys anchi in underground aquifers connected to dug-out wells in Goalpara district, Assam.
The species belongs to the Rakthamichthys genus, a group of subterranean swamp eel’s endemic to India.
