- India secured a record 9 medals at the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) 2026 held in Italy.

- Anak Krakatau volcano in Indonesia erupted, disrupting nearly 3,000 flights and leaving over 340,000 passengers stranded.
- Anak Krakatau, meaning “Child of Krakatoa”, is located in the Sunda Strait, between Java and Sumatra, about 150 km from Jakarta; it emerged from the sea in the caldera formed after the 1883 eruption of Mount Krakatoa.
- The International Day of Charity is observed every year on 5 September to encourage people, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders to help others through volunteering and charitable activities.
