- Two new damselfly species were discovered in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra and Kerala.
- The Konkan Shadowdamsel was found in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra.
- The Crimson Shadowdamsel (Protosticta sanguinithorax) was discovered in the Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala.
- Both species were previously mistaken for the Red-spot Shadow damsel (Protosticta sanguinostigma).
- These shadow damsels thrive in well-shaded, pristine forest habitats but face threats from habitat loss and plantations.
