- Post re-election PM Modi has visited Maldives and Sri Lanka.
- He was presented a replica of the “Samadhi Buddha Statue” by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.
- The Samadhi Buddha is a famous statue situated at Mahamevnāwa Park in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.
- Modi is the first international leader to visit Sri Lanka post Easter Sunday terror attacks.
- He also signed 6 bilateral agreements with Maldivian President Mohamed Solih in key areas like defence and maritime security.
- Modi was conferred with the Maldives' highest honour "Rule of Nishan Izzuddeen"
- He also addressed the Maldivian Parliament, the Majlis.
- India also agreed to offer training to the Maldivian Civil Servants.
