- The union minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated the Watershed Mahotsav in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
- The event was part of the National Watershed Conference organised by the Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development.
- The Mahotsav aimed to promote sustainable soil and water conservation and strengthen public participation in watershed development.
- Mission Watershed Revitalisation was also launched to restore assets created under previous watershed projects through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
- The initiative highlighted the government’s focus on water security, resilient agriculture, and sustainable rural livelihoods across India.
