- The observations focused on EX Hydrae, which is a white dwarf binary system located about two hundred light years away in the Hydra constellation.
- EX Hydrae emits strong X-rays because it pulls gas from a nearby companion star.
- IXPE measured the polarisation of X-rays to understand the structure of superheated gas near the white dwarf.
