White Revolution 2.0

  • The Government of India has launched White Revolution 2.0 to increase milk procurement by 50 % over the next five years.
  • The initiative was announced by the Ministry of Cooperation.
  • The target is to raise daily milk procurement to 1,007 lakh kilograms by 2028–29.
  • Around 75,000 new Dairy Cooperative Societies will be formed, and 46,422 existing DCS will be strengthened.
  • The programme is funded under the National Dairy Development Programme 2.0 of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
  • Women make up nearly 70% of India’s dairy workforce, and the scheme focuses on bringing more women dairy farmers into cooperative systems.
  • The programme aims to improve farmer income, rural employment, nutrition, and women’s economic empowerment.
