- India is home to three crocodilian species, namely
- The mugger or marsh crocodile (Crocodylus palustris) - IUCN Vulnerable.
- The estuarine or saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus)-IUCN Least Concern.
- The gharial (Gavialis gangeticus)-IUCN Critically Endangered.
