- The World Habitat Day was observed every year on first Monday in October all over the world.
- This year it was observed on 1 October 2018 with the theme ‘Municipal Solid Waste Management’.
- The purpose of day is to reflect on state of cities and towns and basic human right to adequate shelter.
- The day was established by UN General Assembly through Resolution in 1985 and was first celebrated in 1986.
