They lack a brain, heart, and bones, yet possess nerve nets that help them sense light and movement.
Some species, like Turritopsis dohrnii, are called “immortal jellyfish” because they can revert to a youthful stage and live indefinitely.
Many jellyfish are bioluminescent, producing light used for survival and studied in genetic research.
