- On the occasion of World Mental Health Day (10 Oct), the United Kingdom has appointed the world's first minister for suicide prevention.
- Britain’s PM Theresa May has appointed Jackie Doyle-Price, a Conservative MP and current health minister, as the minister of suicide prevention.
- According to a new report by WHO, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death globally for young people aged between 15 and 19, with at least one death every 40s.
