  • The Union Government introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha to prevent exam paper leaks.
  • The Bill proposes increasing punishment for individuals involved in unfair means from a maximum of 5 years to 10 years imprisonment and fines up to 50 lakh.
  • Organised offences may attract up to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of up to 10 crore.
  • It proposes setting up Special Task Forces, Special Fast Track Courts, and completing investigations within two months.
  • Fast Track Courts must conduct daily hearings and aim to complete trials within three months after filing the charge sheet.
