The Union Government introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha to prevent exam paper leaks.
The Bill proposes increasing punishment for individuals involved in unfair means from a maximum of 5 years to 10 years imprisonment and fines up to ₹50 lakh.
Organised offences may attract up to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹10 crore.
It proposes setting up Special Task Forces, Special Fast Track Courts, and completing investigations within two months.
Fast Track Courts must conduct daily hearings and aim to complete trials within three months after filing the charge sheet.
