- Researchers have discovered over 1,700 virus remnants buried deep within a glacier in western China.
- Many of these viruses being previously unknown to science.
- The oldest of this date back more than 40,000 years.
- They were extracted from a 1,000-foot ice core from the expansive Guliya Glacier on the Tibetan Plateau.
