- The Akka Pade scheme was launched in the Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka to enhance the safety of women and children.
- Akka Pade is a special safety initiative jointly implemented by the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD) and the Police Department.
- Each Akka Pade team consists of five women Home Guards trained to assist women and children in distress.
- Deployment areas include schools, colleges, bus and railway stations, hostels, tourist places, and religious locations.
