	- Tamil Nadu government’s gross market borrowings stood at ₹21,000 crore in the first quarter (April-June) of 2024-25.
 
	- In the first quarter of 2023-2024, the State government had a gross market borrowing of ₹25,000 crores. 
 
	- The State government borrows from the market through the issue of bonds known as State Development Loans (SDLs).
 
	- In the April-June 2024 period, the Andhra Pradesh government was the top borrower at ₹27,000 crore, followed by Tamil Nadu. 
 
	- State’s Own Tax Revenue (SOTR) constitutes over 70% of its total revenue receipts. 
 
	- SOTR increased 3.13% in the first quarter of 2024-25 to ₹37,605.43 crore from ₹36,461.89 crore in the same period last year.
