- China and Brazil’s jointly developed earth observation satellite named China -Brazil Earth Resources Satellite/CBERS-4A.
- It was launched from Long March-4B rocket in the northern Chinese province of Shanxi.
- The satellite along with 8 other satellites, was launched under a bilateral programme that would enhance cooperation among the BRICS nations.
- Currently, South Africa is the only country from the BRICS nations that does not have satellites of its own.
