	- The Union Cabinet has approved Phase-III of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme to expand medical education in India.
- A total of 5,000 postgraduate and 5,023 undergraduate (MBBS) seats will be added in government institutions.
- The scheme includes upgradation of existing government medical colleges, standalone PG institutes, and hospitals.
