Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL) signed a MoU to explore collaboration on a greenfield refinery near Ramayapatnam Port, Andhra Pradesh.
The proposed refinery and petrochemical complex will have a capacity of 9–12 million tonnes and an estimated investment of ₹1 lakh crore.
The Ramayapatnam project will include a 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) ethylene cracker unit, the first of its kind in southern India, with 35% petrochemical intensity.
Commercial operations are expected by fiscal year 2030, and the project aims to boost energy security, industrial development, and job creation.
