The Election Commission of India (ECI) will revise electoral rolls in 12 States and Union Territories (UTs).
Final voter lists will be published on February 7, 2026.
States and UTs include Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.
Aadhaar can be used for identity verification but not as proof of age or citizenship.
It is the phase 2 of Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
It’s first phase was notified on June 24 under Section 21(3) of the Representation of People Act, 1950, as well as the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
