- The Election Commission of India (ECI) will revise electoral rolls in 12 States and Union Territories (UTs).
- Final voter lists will be published on February 7, 2026.
- States and UTs include Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.
- Aadhaar can be used for identity verification but not as proof of age or citizenship.
- It is the phase 2 of Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
- It’s first phase was notified on June 24 under Section 21(3) of the Representation of People Act, 1950, as well as the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
