  • India will induct 16 Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction Systems (IDDS) developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
  • The system uses a 10-kilowatt (kW) laser that can stop enemy drones at a range of 2 kilometres.
  • It is part of DRDO’s Direct Energy Weapons (DEW) programme under the Centre for High Energy Systems and Sciences (CHESS).
  • The Mark-2 version can disable drone sensors and damage their structure.
