India’s Aviation Vision 2047

  • India’s aviation sector has become the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market.
  • The number of airports has increased from 74 in 2014 to 163 in 2025, and is planned to reach 350–400 by 2047.
  • The Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme has operated 3.23 lakh flights and carried more than 1.56 crore passengers.
  • Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)–UDAN, 649 routes and 93 aerodromes, including 2 water aerodromes and 15 heliports, have been made operational.
  • By 2040, passenger traffic is expected to reach 1.1 billion, and total employment from the aviation sector may rise to about 25 million.
