International Day for Judicial Well-being 2026 – July 25

  • The day is observed to promote the well-being, independence, integrity, and efficiency of judges and other judicial officers.
  • The day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in March 2025 through a resolution, building on the Nauru Declaration on Judicial Well-being (2024).
  • It highlights that judicial well-being is essential for fair justice, public trust, access to justice, and preventing corruption.
  • The Nauru Declaration outlines seven guiding principles, including removing mental health stigma, promoting supportive judicial institutions, and adopting holistic well-being measures.
  • According to a 2021 Global Judicial Integrity Network survey, 92% of judges reported work-related stress, and 97% said judicial well-being needs greater attention.
