July 29 , 2026 16 hrs 0 min 7 0
The day is observed to promote the well-being, independence, integrity, and efficiency of judges and other judicial officers.
The day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in March 2025 through a resolution, building on the Nauru Declaration on Judicial Well-being (2024).
It highlights that judicial well-being is essential for fair justice, public trust, access to justice, and preventing corruption.
The Nauru Declaration outlines seven guiding principles, including removing mental health stigma, promoting supportive judicial institutions, and adopting holistic well-being measures.
According to a 2021 Global Judicial Integrity Network survey, 92% of judges reported work-related stress, and 97% said judicial well-being needs greater attention.
