The Union government has declared the Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ) around the Kappatagudda Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka.
It is often referred to as the “Western Ghats of North Karnataka” due to its unique biodiversity.
The sanctuary is home to nearly 400 species of medicinal plants and supports a range of dry-scrub and deciduous vegetation.
Apart from its ecological value, Kappatagudda holds historical significance, with several ancient temple ruins scattered across the hills, reflecting its cultural heritage.
