Kunming-Montreal Framework Update

The draft global assessment of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) shows that the world is not on track to achieve its biodiversity targets by 2030.
The KMGBF, adopted in 2022, has 23 targets for biodiversity conservation, but progress on most targets remains slow.
Only Target 8 on reducing climate change impacts on biodiversity is progressing, but not at the required speed.
The assessment is based on 129 national reports, 89 National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), and other global submissions.
The findings will be discussed at SBSTTA-28 and SBI-7 meetings in Nairobi, Kenya, and will support the COP17 Global Review.
